EX GB pair look set to succeed

FORMER Great Britain internationals David Howe and Oliver Allen will do battle in Sheffield's Northern Riders' Championship at Owlerton tomorrow (7.45).

Howe, of Scunthorpe, and recent King's Lynn signing Allen are expected to be amongst the favourites. Somerset duo Shane Parker and Sam Masters, who are well suited to the Owlerton track, are also included. Ryan Fisher, who won the Premier League title with Edinburgh at the weekend, has also accepted his invite and in-form Newcastle man Mark Lemon will be another favourite.

Tigers co-promoter David Hoggart said: "The fact that we have been able to pull in this line-up so soon after the original staging of the meeting was rained off underlines how much the riders love Owlerton. Our own riders will have a tough test against this opposition; it should be a fantastic night of racing."

Hoggart has also confirmed an invite has been sent to Glasgow star Joe Screen.

"Joe has been struggling of late after a heavy crash and we're waiting to hear on his fitness," said Hoggart. "He's only just out of the Elite League and he will fancy his chances of beating the likes of Howe and Allen.

"We're pleased Allen is doing it because he hasn't had much chance to race here in the last two or three seasons, and he likes this track."
