It’s been a couple of weeks since my last column and in that time Sheffield have had a tough time of it, writes Simon Stead.
We picked up yet another injury and we’ve faced some of the top sides in the Premier League.
Tomorrow we have a big meeting at Owlerton against Scunthorpe and it’s a good chance for the boys to hit back and try to get back to winning ways.
Scunny are a good side though, and we’re going to have to be on top of our game if we want to get one over them - so get down there and cheer the boys on!
On Saturday British rider Tai Woffinden - who did a lot of laps at Owlerton early in his career - climbed to the top of the Speedway Grand Prix standings and he’s only three rounds away from being the world champion.
There is still a long way to go, but Tai is looking so good at the moment and it’s great for British speedway to have one of our riders at the top of the sport.
Tai is also the godson of my boss and Sheffield owner Neil Machin and I know Neil will be right behind Tai all the way.
He’s not had the easiest of times in the last few years but he seems to have everything going perfectly for him now and it’s exciting to see.
So good luck Woffy!
