TIGERS owner Neil Machin is expecting a bumper crowd when Belle Vue Aces visit Owlerton in next Thursday’s season opener.
The club handed fans a boost last week by announcing admission prices would be kept the same as last year despite a rise in VAT and other costs.
Season ticket sales have gone well and Machin has received messages thanking him for freezing prices. And he’s reported a surge in interest for the Aces clash. He said: “I’ve had messages of support from those applauding our decision to keep speedway affordable - now we hope they’ll come along for the Belle Vue meeting. It’s important people get behind us. It’s a mouthwatering meeting and Belle Vue will bring their strongest team.
“That will give our lads the toughest of tests, but it’s perhaps the best way of measuring what we are capable of. Our team can’t wait to get out there and have a good go. We went close to beating them last year and there were some worried faces in the Aces’ corner of the pits as we led right up until the last four heats before they won by four points.”
Tigers are set to go through their paces tonight with their pre-season press and practice session and the riders will mix with supporters after practice.
