Back-to-form Parsons makes up for lost time

JOEL Parsons insists his return to form took way too long - and he's making up for lost time.

The Australian is currently at reserve for Sheffield alongside Paul Cooper after a string of miserable scores in the first half of the season.

He heads into tomorrow's Premier League clash with Scunthorpe looking for a bumper score to bolster his chances of moving into the top five.

Said Parsons: "It's taken too long to get back in the points and thankfully things seem to be coming together for me right now.

"Scunthorpe will be a hard test because they have riders throughout the team who can ride well at our track - and when we went to their place for the Sky meeting I was poor.

"I feel like I'm making up for lost time, I know Coops feels the same way and we have to just go out there and give it our best.

"The biggest problem was that I didn't really know what was going on and it was so hard to get to the bottom of where the problems were.

"But I think we've cracked it now and hopefully I can reward the Sheffield management and supporters for the patience they showed me when things were going wrong."

Skipper Ricky Ashworth remains 50-50 for tomorrow after crashing when making a guest appearance for Belle Vue in their Elite League win at Eastbourne on Saturday.

"It's getting better day-by-day but I'll make a decision in the morning," said Ashworth. "I want to ride but we also have some big meetings coming up and I don't want to aggravate the situation."
