JOSH Auty is on course to represent Sheffield in the Premier League Riders’ Championship for a second successive season.
Tigers host the event on behalf of the British Speedway Promoters’ Association on September 25. And last night’s washout of the Premier League visit to Ipswich looks set to rubber-stamp Auty’s place at the top of the Tigers averages with a figure of 8.20, edging out Shane Parker who has carded 8.19.
And with no official fixture due before the cut-off date of August 23, unless the Suffolk trip can be re-arranged before then, Auty’s place will be confirmed. But there could still be a fairytale ending to Parker’s career as he would be in line for one of the wildcard slots.
Tigers chief Neil Machin “Hopefully we will get a new date to go back to Ipswich as soon as possible as we are in the second phase of fixtures.”
