SHEFFIELD Tigers continued their good week of results with a resounding 57-37 victory over Redcar at Owlerton last night.
The Tigers, fresh from their live televised win at Somerset on Tuesday, produced a solid team performance against the Teesside club.
Skipper Ricky Ashworth led by example with a 14-point tally and Shane Parker (12+1) and Hugh Skidmore (10+3) gave great support.
Sheffield were never troubled having started the night with a 5-1 from Ashworth and Skidmore and by the time six races had been completed they had opened up an unassailable 27-9 lead.
Redcar then nominated Matej Kus for a tactical ride in Heat 7, but the Czech Republic rider and his team-mate Gary Havelock could only manage a 5-3. Havelock and Kus hit back with a 5-1 in Heat 10 and race 11 was shared after Jason Lyons scored double points after finishing second to Parker.
A Parker and Simon Lambert maximum in the penultimate race increased the lead to 54-34 and the Tigers will head north for tonight’s return match full of confidence.
