TIGERS have agreed deals with three more riders for the new season.
They have confirmed the return of Argentinian crowd pleaser Emiliano Sanchez and Australian youngster Hugh Skidmore. And they have snapped up former British U21 champion Joe Haines in a loan deal from Elite League Wolverhampton to start the campaign at reserve.
It means the Owlerton side now have four confirmed starters following the news of Dane Klaus Jakobsen joining on a full transfer from Stoke.
And the club are set to unveil a fifth rider at a supporters function tonight.
Club owner Neil Machin said: “Emiliano is a popular rider and we’ll be looking for him to carry on where he left off. We brought him back to the club to give us more strength away from home and that will be the case again. Hugh is investing heavily in his equipment and that has to be good news.
“He’s made a lot of strides over the last couple of seasons and knows that the year ahead will give him the opportunity to up his game further.
“Joe Haines is buzzing about joining Sheffield and sees this as his big chance to get his career back on track after suffering a bad knock in Australia. We believe with the right environment we’ll see the lad come out of his shell and become a good, solid professional rider. He has bags of potential and he can realise that riding for us. His career has stalled, he hasn’t made the progress many people thought he would, but he sees this as an opportunity to kick on.
“We’ve done the team in a different way this year, working from the base upwards and now we are working on putting the finishing touches to the top end of the side.”
