ERIC Boocock admits Sheffield’s gruelling September schedule will be a big test for man and machine.

And the Tigers boss admits they will need points on the road if they are to pressurise title favourites Glasgow.

Sheffield host Plymouth on Thursday before launching a month of eight league outings – four home and four away. Boocock said: “The business end of the season is going to be tough. But as a rider when you are enjoying your racing all you want to do is get out there on and race – so this is a great chance for the lads to do that. There’s no margin for error in a schedule like this and people have to remember there is an away meeting at Ipswich still to be rearranged.

“We are going to need some points from our away meetings and we have to win all our home meetings by more than six in order to claim 12 league points from them and see what we can pick up away from home. All the lads will give it their best. All our supporters ask for is the riders to give 100 per cent and that’s what this team does. Everyone digs deep and helps each other and that’s what we will need to do throughout September.” Sheffield expect confirmation this week regarding their qualifier for the Premier League Riders’ Championship with Shane Parker looking favourite.
