YOUNG Sheffield potter Joel Walker faces an uphill task to reach the televised stages of the Betfair World Championship.
To secure a spot in the tournament, which gets underway at the Crucible on April 20, Walker will have to win four qualifiers. The 19-year-old faces Ian Burns in his first round opener on Sunday. Walker is ranked 23 places lower in the world standings than Burns.
Fellow Sheffielder Adam Duffy enters the qualifiers at the second round stage next Tuesday.
The qualifying rounds of the worlds, featuring six-times world champion Steve Davis, run from April 4 to 14 at the English Institute of Sport.
