World number six Judd Trump believes promising Sheffield potter Joel Walker has a big future in the sport following their recent tussle.
A classy 106 break helped Walker, aged 20, win three out of the opening four frames against Trump in the qualifying stages of the Wuxi Classic on Monday night.
But Trump, renowned for his break-building, hit back, reeling off four frames in a row at the Capital Venue at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester to book his place in the main draw of the Chinese ranking tournament.
Trump tweeted: “Beat Joel 5-3. He is one to watch out for in the future.”
Walker claimed he “didn’t play bad” but admitted Trump played “great” after the mid-session interval. He will return to action in the Australian Goldfields Open qualifiers this Saturday.
