Promising potter Joel Walker faces India’s Aditya Mehta in the first round of the German Masters today.
The Sheffield youngster, ranked 86 in the world, qualified for the Berlin event after thrashing Robert Milkins 5-0 at the Barnsley Metrodome last month,
Walker is relishing the prospect of taking on Mehta, who is 23 places above him in the world standings. The winner will play either Ratchayothin Yotharuck or Jamie Burnett in the next round.
The 19-year-old, who has has already pocketed £3,000 for reaching the last 64 of the tournament, tweeted: “Can’t wait to play in the Tempodrom.
“Love playing in Germany; always a great crowd!”
It will be Walker’s first match this year.
