Snooker: Junhui faces Robertson in Galway final

Have your say

DING Junhui was unable to repeat his stunning form of previous rounds but was still far too good for Norweigian surprise package Kurt Maflin as he stormed through to the final of the Dafabet Players Tour Championship Grand Finals in Galway.

Sheffield-based Ding had made seven centuries in the 12 rounds he had won en route to reaching the last four but although he was unable to add anymore today, he still ran out a 4-0 winner against Maflin, who was playing his first semi-final at a full ranking event.

The Chinese ace said: “I didn’t play that well today, but the most important thing is to win the frames.”

Meeting the 25-year-old in the final is Australian Neil Robertson. The world number three looked to be cruising after establishing a 3-0 lead against in his last four clash with England’s Tom Ford.

However, Ford battled back to level the match at 3-3 and he had several chances to take the victory in the decider before Robertson found his form again to claim the win with a break of 48.
