Allied Snooker No 1 were ther first winners in the Sheffield Snooker Teams finals week.
They won the Bentley Cup, staged at their own venue Allied Snooker Centre, the joint sponsors with Sheffield Transport Sports Club of the competition.
Allied No 1 beat Colley WMC No2 by 295 to 253 in the cup, the aggregate competition for teams of four players with the individual scores being added together to provide a winner.
Graham Royle opened for the Allied team but after taking an early lead it was Colley’s Ryan Wakelin who took the final colours to give Colley a narrow nine-point lead.
Colley’s John Ridgeway hung on to their lead, taking the last three balls to tie with Allied’s Simon Dexter.
The third frame proved decisive, and in fact was the only one that Allied won; Mark Cerrone winning by 53 points. This gave their last player, David Manuel a 44 point lead to defend. Colley’s Paul Smith started well and at one time put them in front, but David stuck to the task and pulled back to lose his frame by just two points, but more importantly to give Allied the cup.
