MAMADY Sidibe heads into the final week of his Sheffield Wednesday loan feeling receptive towards an extension of his stay if there no prospect of him getting a new chance at Stoke.
The striker is available for the Owls’ matches against Hull today, MK Dons on Tuesday and Wolves next Saturday.
He is pleased to have been given the chance of games after a two-and-a-half-year lay-off with injuries but admits that ideally he would be in the Britannia Stadium set-up.
“Of course, I need to play; I have been working hard to get back my fitness and also get back in the squad at Stoke,” he said. “If I can’t be in the squad there, I need to play; I have been out too long to sit watching games.
“All the work I have done has been to get back in the squad at Stoke, but if there is no room for me there, I need to play.”
Sidide regards the issue as being initially under the control of his manager, Tony Pulis.
“I don’t know what is going to happen,” he admits. “I am here on loan and am doing my best. The future is not in my hands really.
“The only thing I can do is is to play and give my best for Sheffield Wednesday while I am here.”
Like Sidibe, Manchester City winger Jeremy Helan is due to go back to his club after the Wolves game.
In both cases, Owls boss Dave Jones takes the view that the parent club are in the driving seat when it comes to choosing the next route.
Helan has served a one-match ban and is available for today’s televised game at Hull (kick-off 5.20pm) - a game that gives Sidibe no fears.
The striker said: “I think we have proved we can win games, especially away from home. We had good games at Barnsley and Bolton, even Huddersfield where we should have won.
“Nobody gave us a chance at Bolton. We play Hull with no pressure, really, as they are a top-two side, which also gives us motivation.”
