Sheffield United: Blades complete double raid

Jonathan Forte in his first spell at Sheffield United

Jonathan Forte in his first spell at Sheffield United

SHEFFIELD United have confirmed the double signing of Barry Robson and Jonathan Forte, writes Dom Howson.

Free agent Robson and Sheffield-born Forte have agreed to join the League One side until the end of the season.

Experienced midfielder Robson, 34, had his contract cancelled by mutual consent earlier this month with Vancouver Whitecaps. By contrast, Forte, who is primarily a striker but can operate on either wing, has returned to Bramall Lane on a temporary basis from Southampton.

Danny Wilson, the Blades manager, said: “People will be familiar with Jonathan’s talents and we are delighted that he has accepted our offer to come and play.

“His goalscoring record is very good and hopefully he can improve that back in Sheffield with us - he is undoubtedly a player with great potential.”

Forte, a graduate of United’s fabled youth system, made 39 appearances for the club before moving to Scunthorpe United.
