Fourteen-year-old Sheffield motor cyclist Matt Bower has walked away with the East Midlands Racing Association Radium Lamps Formula 125 series championship.

The Silverdale School student’s success was confirmed in the last race at Mallory Park and he finished the championship 36 points clear of his nearest rival, having dominated throughout the series.

Matt, from Ecclesall, was also invited to race in the KTM Cup at the British Superbikes weekend at Cadwell Park where he remained in the top five all weekend.

Matt started motocross when he was nine as an occasional hobby. When he was 12 he researched motorcycle racing and found a series that allows drivers as young as 12 to compete. After a trip to Donington that October Matt was hooked and rode last year in Thundersport GB series in the Dunlop Aprillia Superteen Challenge class made up of riders aged between 12-18 all riding the same motorcycles. The series was televised by Motors TV.
