Reigning Sheffield men’s singles champion Matt Dodds dug deep to help secure two vital points for defending champions Redtooth A in the top flight, during a visit to Stocksbridge B.

Having seen his side trail 3-1, Dodds secured a hat trick with wins over Dave Heppenstall and Bill Grant, having earlier scraped past Wil Fisher. Dave Thompson took a brace and Ernest Mpundu completed the scoring for the visitors in a 6-4 win.

High flying MBE A found the going tough on a trip to relegation candidates Hallam Grange A in the second tier. They trailed 3-5 when Steve Needham completed his hat-trick with a pedestrian win over Joe Houghton. Veteran Mick Jarvis secured a point for the visitors with a 3-0 result over Eckart Lange.

One of the comebacks of the campaign occurred at mid table Hallam Grange E in Division Six. The hosts stormed to a 5-0 lead thanks largely to braces from Josh and Jack Deacon.
