Sheffield Wednesday are confident that Jermaine Johnson will sign a new contract.

In addition he has dropped a broad hint that agreement with the Owls will be sealed.

His offer is believed to be for one year, as it was last year when a deal was struck.

Chairman Milan Mandaric said: “I am very fond of JJ. We are trying to keep him with us; I think he will be ok.”

In a comment on signing a new deal, Johnson said on Twitter: “When I’m back that will get sorted.”

He is in the Jamaica squad preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Mexico. the USA and Honduras on June 4, 7 and 11 respectively.

JJ played as a sub in a 0-0 friendly draw with Spurs during a spell at a training camp in the Bahamas.

Another game against the Bahamas national side this Friday was called off so the camp was cut short and preparations were switched to Jamaica.

Wednesday have been linked with Dinamo Zagreb striker Ivan Krstanovic, but have not signed him; they are looking at various players, and their analysis of the market is at an early stage.
