Sign Seyi Olofinjana up.

That is the message from a section of Sheffield Wednesday supporters when asked whether they would like the big Nigerian international to return to Hillsborough on social networking site Twitter yesterday.

The 32-year-old, who joined Hull for £3m from Stoke in 2009,moved to Wednesday on loan at the end of March. In the six matches Olofinjana figured in, Wednesday won four and lost just once as Dave Jones troops secured their Championship status.

When asked about his future after the Owls victory over Blackburn Rovers last month, Olofinjana said he hoped to stay with the club “without a shadow of doubt”.

It was two days ago Olofinjana was released by Hull City. He was among a dozen players to be shown the door by the Premier League-bound club.

Gareth Kinneavy tweeted: “He’s a bit injury prone but not such a risk on a free. Would be a great signing for the short term.”

Caulkett echoed his sentiments, saying: “With the small budget we have, we would be stupid not to sign really decent player for free.”

Michael Fisher added: “I think they should bring him back.”

Question marks have been raised over Olofinjana’s injury track record. He missed the Owls trips to Leeds United and Blackpool due to a knee niggle.

Francis Wight tweeted: “Depends on fitness. I thought he was great, but if Dave Jones doesn’t think he can keep him fit then maybe not.”

Matt Summerhill is also concerned about Olofinjana’s injury problems.

“Only sign him on a pay as you play,” he said.

Davestone reckons the central midfielder is “not good enough and is too old”.

Jonathan Garnett feels Olofinjana might be brought in on a full-transfer should Jose Semedo be shipped out.

“I think he’s the obvious replacement for Jose Semedo, who will be looking for a loan or permanent transfer elsewhere,” said the Wednesday fan.
