KIERAN Lee hopes Sheffield Wednesday keep taking the fast track to success ahead of tonight’s FA Cup third round replay away at MK Dons.
The Owls travel to their League One opponents with the squad ‘buzzing’ according to boss Dave Jones after their 3-1 win against Hull City in East Yorkshire on Saturday night.
And Lee, who has enjoyed a good run in the team recently in midfield, says Wednesday’s pace threat of Michail Antonio and Jermaine Johnson - that they used to such great effect at the KC Stadium - can be enough to fire the Owls through to a fourth round trip to either West Brom or QPR of the Premier League.
Lee, aged 24, who signed for Wednesday from Oldham Athletic in the summer, said: “I think we’re tight defensively, and we know once we get the ball we can attack sharp with JJ (Johnson) and Michail.
“But whoever plays (in the team), that’s how we’ll play away from home.”
Wednesday’s decent run of form - just one defeat in seven matches - has largely been based on their away results, with just one home win during that spell.
Their dour goalless home draw against the Dons ensured the two teams would have to meet again to settle the tie.
Lee said: “It was a tough game against MK, they played really well when they came here. Obviously we’re going there to win and do our best. Hopefully we’ll do enough to get through to the next round.
“I’ve played against them a lot. Their main strength is keeping possession - we know that.
“They’ll probably have lots of possession. But we know with the pace we’ve got we can catch them on the break.”
