Uncertainty over the Wednesday manager’s job looks set to come to an end next week.

Milan Mandaric’s latest update has done nothing to change the feeling that Stuart Gray will be appointed at least until the end of the season.

Some may interpret the chairman’s continual postponing of an announcement as dithering.

But I rather think that he is a wily old fox who knows what he is doing.

Initially, Gray’s experience and ability as caretaker manager bought time while Mandaric began to think about who Dave Jones’ successor should be.

Then with games coming thick and fast over Christmas it made sense for the camp to stay together at least until after the holiday period.
