WATH on Dearne’s hopes of taking Twickenham glory were dashed after they went down 22-31 in their RFU Senior Vase final battle against Wells.
Wath were 23-0 down at half time and despite battling back in the last 45 minutes, the damage had been done. Stand-off Anthony Barratt got their account off the mark with a penalty and second row Richard Hill broke away from a quick tap penalty and touched down, Barratt converting.
Another try followed from Matt Burrows and Barratt added the conversion to close to 28-17 and Steve Mason crashed over as the clock ticked down.
Wath now take on West Leeds in their final Yorkshire 2 match on Saturday. Victory will ensure promotion to Yorkshire One alongside Barnsley.
