Titans changes for Pirates date

.

ROTHERHAM Titans have rung the changes for tomorrow’s clash with Cornish Pirates at Clifton Lane (2pm).

They have made eleven changes and a further positional one with the club hoping the game survives a 2pm pitch inspection this afternon.

Referee Andrew Jackson travelled across from Doncaster yesterday to make an early inspection in view of the freezing conditions and when the covers - borrowed from Doncaster racecourse - were removed, the pitch was perfectly playable.

However, with temperatures set to plummet even further overnight, the club decided to hold another inspection this afternoon and Jackson will travel across again.

The visitors were setting off from Cornwall first thing this morning and yesterday’s inspection was aimed at stopping them travelling if the pitch wasn’t playable at that time.

Meanwhile, Titans back line sees the return of Stephen Hamilton, Dave McCall, Pale Nonu, Shane Monahan and Jimmy Williams.

In the forwards there’s a new front row combination of Jamie Kilbane, Dan Baines and Rob O’Donnell, whilst a new back row combination sees Robin Copeland, Sean Dougall and Semisi Taulava return to action. Barney Maddison returns to lock after last week’s run out in the back row.

Titans head coach Andre Bester said: “Pirates will present us with a difficult challenge. They have already beaten us down there earlier in the season and will fancy turning us over at the Lane.

“Our home form is important to us. If we play to our abilities, we are confident of getting the right result against any team in the division.”
