Rotherham Titans stand proudly at the top of the Championship table with three consecutive wins and a maximum of 15 points.
But they were forced to work hard for their win - perhaps timeley preparation for their touighest match to date, a home clash with title favourites London Welsh.
Moseley fought back well from 31-9 down following excellent tries by scrum half Charlie Mulchrone, forward Dan Sanderson and centre Jack Roberts.
Two tries in two minutes by former Doncaster hooker Rhys Buckley slashed the Titans’ lead to only 31-21,and with more than 30 minutes left, Rotherham were facing a genuine challenge.
They responded maturely, remained level headed and continued to create opportunities.
Penalties on 63 and 72 minutes by Juan Pablo Socino restored their fortunes and opened up a lead of 37-21.
Chasing the bonus point produced another try for the ex-Sheffield Tigers back James Broadley, who has now scored in each of Rotherham’s three Championship games.
Broadley completed a thrilling move on 82 minutes to grab the fourth try and he said: “ I didn’t expect to be in the team for the first match, never mind get on the score sheet.
“It is the others who’ve put in the decent work and I’m trying to get on the end of things.
“Our coach has stressed the importance of support play. You must get on someone’s shoulder, and that’s where my tries have come from.
“I played centre at the Tigers for the last two seasons, so now that I’m on the wing, I’m learning on the job.
“The step-up from National Two to the Championship has been massive. The players are a lot bigger and it’s a question of picking up as much as I can when I review the match video.”
Broadley’s promising start has been copied by fellow new signing, flanker Ali Birch, who charged more than 40 metres to score Rotherham’s fifth try.
