ROTHERHAM were left with only a losing bonus point to show from a game they could have won at Brickfields last night.
Albion started brightly, and full-back James Love slotted one of two 40-metre penalty attempts to give the hosts a 15th-minute lead.
However, Rotherham dominated large parts of the first half, and the only mystery was how they only led 7-3 at the break. Their score came from a 27th-minute try by Tongan No.8 Semisi Taulava. Garry Law converted. Rotherham made a disastrous start to the second half, conceding a try after only three minutes. Scrum-half James Williams’ long pass on his own 22 was intercepted by Albion winger Cameron Mitchell. Love’s conversion put Albion 10-7 up.
However, their lead was shortlived, with centre Keni Fisilau’s shocking ‘no arms’ tackle on Titans full-back Stephen Hamilton resulting in a yellow card for the Tongan, and a simple penalty for Law. Love and Law exchanged a further penalty to make it 13-13. Rotherham had former Albion flanker Robin Copeland sin-binned in the 64th minute, and the hosts swiftly capitalised with a touchdown by hooker Gareth Evans.
Love added a penalty, but Rotherham struck back with a 78th-minute Copeland try. Law’s conversion left Titans one point behind, but an injury-time Love penalty sealed victory for Albion.
