The growing links between Rotherham Titans and Loughborough University, one of the best universities in the UK for sport, have resulted in the Clifton Lane club signing one of their best players.
Winger Craig Dowsett, 22, who has scored 12 tries in National One so far this season for Loughborough Students, will be joining the Titans in the summer.
Rotherham’s coach, Lee Blackett, said: “Craig really impressed us when we played Loughborough in a friendly last season and I have been keeping a close eye on his progress this year as well.
“He was one of our key targets as we set about recruiting for next season and he comes highly recommended.
“Craig will do well in the Championship because he has strength and power.
Dave Morris, the Director of Rugby at Loughborough, said:“Craig will make an impact in the Championship for Rotherham and he will be able to take advantage of the good coaching the Titans have developed under Lee Blackett. Craig has much potential.”
Blackett is particularly delighted to have persuaded Dowsett to join Rotherham, currently fourth in the Championship, because several other clubs were chasing the Titans’ new signing.
