Sheffield Tigers notched up their first league win of the season when they triumphed 23-18 at Westo in National Two North.

Tigers were 17-8 ahead at half time. Scrum-half Ryan Holmes touched down after 11 minutes and stand-off Tom Outram kicked the conversion to go 7-5 ahead.

Outram kicked a 35th minute penalty and then converted his own try on the stroke of half time.

Another two penalties followed from Outram on 51 and 61 minutes and Westoe snatched a couple of late tries to secure a losing bonus point.

Sheffield ran in seven tries on their way to a 56-0 demolition of North One East rivals Durham City at Abbeydale on Saturday.

Centre Simon Tillyer and hooker Carl Mortimer scored two tries each, while others came from centre Chris Dale, replacement back row Martin Balshaw and winger Gareth Morley.

Stand-off Mark Ireland kicked three penalties and converted six of the tries.

Wath on Dearne were emphatic 54-6 winners at home yo Knottingley in Yorkshire One. Captain Matt Burrows scored a hat-trick of tries, while Shane Brown, Andy Hopkins, Steve Mason, Dale Harrison and John Ball also touched down. Full-back Tom Quinn kicked seven conversions.

Dinnington lost 25-18 at home to York in Yorkshire One. Dinnington had tries from Matthew Starr and Ben Ilsley with Darren Cannadine kicking a penalty and a conversion and Bryn Evans kicking an injury time penalty to secure a losing bonus point, but it was not enough to chal.

Barnsley were beaten 31-13 at Bridlington in Yorkshire One. Two penalties from full-back Josh Smith kept them in touch at half time with the score at 10-6 and in the second half although Dave Reed added a try and Andrew Appleyard converted.

A physical test from Leodiensian couldn’t stop Sheffield Medicals on their way to a 15-3 victory in Yorkshire Two as they outworked their West Yorkshire rivals.

Tries came from Rob Causer and Mike Watters with Eddie Farmer kicking two penalties.

Rotherham Phoenix ran out 15-7 winners in their Yorkshire Three clash with Baildon, hooker Scott Crooks and second row James Mallender scoring the tries while Tom Jenkinson kicked a conversion and penalty.

Mosborough lost out 35-29 at Yorkshire Four rivals Old Otliensians.

Stocksbridge scored five tries as they beat Wensleydale 34-7 in Yorkshire Five.

Centre Ben Senior scored twice, while other tries came courtesy of winger Callum Green, centre Peter Newton and second row Andy Beal. Scott Bowskill kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Sheffield Oaks beat Rotherham Clifton 30-13.
