Rotherham Titans winger Curtis Wilson, who was banned for four weeks by the RFU after receiving a yellow card on Boxing Day, returns to the Titans side for the awkward Championship match against bottom club Plymouth Albion at Brickfields tomorrow.

Having missed three Championship encounters and the quarter-final clash in the British and Irish Cup against Leinster last week, Wilson will be keen to show has lost none of his sharpness that has produced three tries in seven league games.

The other major change in the Rotherham team is that Ulsterman James McKinney is back at fly-half. Tom Barrett, who was preferred in the number 10 shirt for the Championship game against Bedford and then kept his place last weekend for the B and I Cup match at Clifton Lane, returns to the replacements’ bench.

Coach Lee Blackett has dropped centre Jordan Davies after a flat display against Leinster and his place is taken by Sean Scanlon.

In the pack, Blackett has decided flanker Ali Birch and second row Perry Parker are the better options to Max Argyle and Barney Maddison respectively.

The importance of a Rotherham win at Plymouth can’t be stressed too much. Now that Nottingham, fourth in the league table, are seven points clear of the Titans in fifth place, Blackett’s squad need to leave Brickfields with a victory if they are to launch a credible promotion campaign.

“Plymouth may well be bottom but their recent results when they’ve done well against Moseley and Nottingham make them favourites tomorrow,” said Blackett.
