Rotherham Titans have added Doncaster-born tighthead prop Lewis Thiede to their ranks for the 2014-15 Championship season.
The 23-year-old, who has previously represented Doncaster Knights, will join Rotherham from London Scottish on a one-year deal.
Thiede joined Scottish on a permanent deal in the summer of 2013, having spent the previous two seasons with them on a dual registration and loan agreement from his parent club London Wasps.
Titans head coach Lee Blackett said: “We are delighted to be bringing in Lewis Thiede from London Scottish. We’ve been aware of Lewis for a long time, going back to when he was at Doncaster, before he went to London Wasps. He’s a guy who’s got masses of potential and he’s played a lot of Championship rugby as a young lad.
“He’s probably been a little bit disappointed with the last couple of years, as he fell ill and had some injury issues. But he’s still a young lad and his potential is huge. He wanted an opportunity to come back up North and he’s exactly the type of player we want here. I also believe Lewis is capable of going a long way in the game and we are delighted that he has signed for Rotherham.”
“Lewis will offer us great competition in the tighthead position; we’ve already signed Mark Tampin in that position and we’ll be bringing in a third tighthead. The scrum is something this club prides itself on and we need to keep those values going at Clifton Lane; we feel that Lewis will make a real difference in that aspect of our game.”
