Rotherham’s Scottish fly half and club skipper, Garry Law, will make his first appearance of the season tomorrow in Titans third British and Irish Cup game at Llanelli.
Law is at long last over his thigh injury that has stopped him playing in any of Rotherham’s 10 Championship games and the earlier matches in the B and I Cup against Bedford and Connacht.
“Now that Garry is back in the side, it is like having a new signing,” says coach Lee Blackett. “He will make a massive difference because Garry is such a good player.
“We have seen video of Llanelli but you never tell who they will pick because they are part of the Scarlets region and can select from a large pool of players. We are taking the B and I Cup seriously as a competition and I have picked the strongest available team.”
Centre Lloyd Hayes, who is on at loan Hull Ionians, has been recalled after impressive displays for the National One club recently.
“Lloyd has been outstanding and fully deserves his chance and now he has the opportunity to show me that he should be the first choice number 13,” explained Blackett.
While Hayes starts at Llanelli, two other Titans who are also on loan at Hull Ionians, props Rikki Stout and Toby Williams, have been included in the squad and should see action in the second half. Rotherham are third in Pool Three on five points, the same number as Llanelli who are second.
In previous matches in October, the Titans beat Bedford, top of Pool Three, and then lost by 27-25 at Connacht.
Meanwhile, Blackett has confirmed that two major players at Clifton Lane, currently injured, backs Juan Pablo Socino, the Championship’s leading points’ scorer, and Dallan Murphy, should be fit to resume playing on Boxing Day in the league game against Bedford.
Full back, Sean Scanlon (shoulder) is expected to be fit again for the return fixture against Llanelli at Clifton Lane a week tomorrow as should forward Dan Sanderson.
