Doncaster Knights ran riot against Welsh Championship side Swansea to continue their encouraging pre-season form.
Newcomer Andrew Bulumakau helped himself to a hat-trick and Dougie Flockhart crossed twice as Clive Griffiths’ men ran in 12 tries in a comprehensive 76-5 win.
Knights’ lineout and scrum looked solid, while four Doncaster trialists - Jack Maplestone, Tomasi Tanumi, Sam Wilson and Jamie Guy - did their chances of a permanent deal at Castle Park no harm at all.
Knights broke the deadlock from a penalty try and it was not long before Flockhart went over for his first score of the afternoon and successfully landed the conversion.
Flockhart then released Chris Hallam for Doncaster’s third try and a 21-0 half time lead.
The home side put the game beyond Swansea by racing out of the traps at the start of the second period.
Michael Hills and Latu Makaafi combined to set up Matt Challinor for try number four, and from the restart the ball was shifted wide for former Leicester Tigers man Bulumakau to score his first try in Doncaster colours.
Nicky Thomas intercepted Paul Roberts’ pass to score Swansea’s solitary try.
It was a brief respite for the visitors, as Phil Eggleshaw made good ground down the left and teed up Tyson Lewis.
Two trialists combined for the next score when some excellent handling from Tanumi freed Wilson who raced over in the corner, before Mat Clark broke and laid on Flockhart’s second try.
Bulumakau then had the Castle Park crowd on their feet with some brilliant footwork to go over in the corner.
And three more tries in the final 15 minutes - from Eggleshaw, Clark and the impressive Bulumakau - put the gloss on a comfortable win.
Knights’ final pre-season friendly is against a Leicester Tigers XV at Welford Road on Friday, August 29.
