Injury-stricken Rotherham Titans need reinforcements

Injury-hit Rotherham expect to hear next week from Premiership club Gloucester which dual registered forwards and backs will be made available for Titans' next Championship home game, a week on Saturday.

Rotherham urgently need extra manpower and are awaiting the results of medical reports on the two latest players to be hurt, at Ealing on Saturday.

Three quarters Will Thomas (ankle) and Will Goodwin (back) are seeing specialists and while Rotherham do not know the extent of the injuries, the feeling is now more optimistic than it first was.

Meanwhile, hooker Charlie Maddison (ankle), injured against Cornish Pirates, has seen a consultant and Rotherham’s medical staff will assess the report today.

Prop Ian Williams(shoulder) should be back in two weeks, second row forward Darren Oliver (groin) is three weeks away from being back in action, but back row forward, Jack Ramshaw (shoulder),is still weeks away from full fitness.

Scrum half Matt Dudman(knee) should return for the Nottingham game in three weeks, centre Joe Barker (finger) is expected to be available for selection in a fortnight, but the futures of centre Cameron Hudson (ankle) and winger Jack Hayes (groin) are uncertain.

Hudson is unlikely to play again this season and it is still unknown when Hayes will come back.

With no league game this weekend, Titans won’t report back for training until next Monday when they will begin preparing for the Jersey home match.

“We need to refresh our bodies and we won’t get better by moaning but by working hard,” says forwards’ coach Steve Salvin. “Jersey are going to be a threat because they have a big pack and they have strengthened their backs by signing a player such as centre Jordan Davies who used to play for us. We must rise to the physical challenge that Jersey will offer and we will have to be a lot more solid defensively.”
