Rotherham Titans, second in the Championship and only one point behind leaders London Welsh, aim to achieve their 10th consecutive win in all competitions by beating Moseley in the league at home tomorrow (2pm.)
The Birmingham club, eighth in the table with five wins in 13 games, are much improved this season and have been turned into a forceful side by the former Rotherham player-coach Kevin Maggs. Although Moseley have already lost twice in the Championship to Titans (42-24 and 47-21) Titans coach Lee Blackett has warned against complacency.
“Maggs has done a great job; this is the best Moseley team for several seasons and we should not take anything for granted. They have strength in depth and as they showed when they won at Bedford, so it will be tough. They are one of those league teams which are always relentless and you can’t afford to have an off-day against them.
“What we have to do is to back up our excellent performance in Jersey last weekend.”
Scrum half Charlie Mulchrone comes back to the starting line-up as does hooker Tom Cruse.
An ankle injury keeps out Alfie To’oala and his place at number eight is taken by Ed Williamson. The other change in the back row sees the Ulster forward Ali Birch starting ahead of Alex Rieder as Blackett rotates his players at the back of the scrum.
A familiar face in the Moseley line-up will be hooker Rhys Buckley who joined the West Midlands club from Doncaster Knights at the end of last season.
The Welshman is their top try scorer in the Championship with seven.
Meanwhile, Rotherham’s former Moseley player, second row Dan Sanderson, who has played such a prominent part in the Titans’ success so far this season, is disappointed not to be appearing against his former club.
Sanderson was injured, but not seriously in the Jersey game, and is being rested so that he is fully fit for the London Welsh clash a week on Sunday.
