ROTHERHAM Titans coach Andre Bester has been quick to find a replacement forward for the injured flanker Latu Makaafi, who broke his collar bone in the last home match against Jersey a fortnight ago.
He has signed Joe Ellyatt who made a strong impression during the pre-season games in August when the young back row forward was on trial.
Formerly at the Bath Academy which has developed so many talented players, Ellyatt grew up in Jersey where he learned the game and became the youngest player to represent the club at a senior level.
Ellyatt has been signed for the rest of the season and may play some part in tomorrow’s Championship game against Bristol at Clifton Lane.
Bester is expected to make changes to the side which lost at Plymouth a week ago.
One forward he is delighted to see returning is lock Barney Maddison who has made a full recovery from the knee injury suffered against Jersey.
However, there is uncertainty over the fitness of forward Neale Patrick who has a back niggle. Hooker Dan Baines will also comeback into the team as Bester continues to rotate his first team squad.
