Rotherham Titans’ coach, Andre Bester, who has already strengthened his forwards for next season by signing Dan Sanderson from Birmingham club, Moseley, now seems on the verge of recruiting another experienced Championship performer.
According to reliable sources, Bedford’s lock, Sean Tomes, is on his way to Clifton Lane shortly and should form a solid partnership in the Rotherham second row with Sanderson.
Sanderson, who is six feet eight inches tall, is regarded as one of the strongest and most powerful forwards in the Championship and is expected to make a big impact.
Tomes, aged 27, appeared in the Premiership for Newcastle Falcons and and has also played for Newport Gwent Dragons, Exeter Chiefs and briefly for Doncaster and Otley.
Tomes and Sanderson will not be the last of Bester’s signings as he seeks to rebuild the Rotherham pack which has been left threadbare by the departures of five top class forwards.
