ROTHERHAM coach Andre Bester is trying to strengthen his squad before the promotion play-offs and hopes to sign three new players before the registration deadline, a week today.

Although Titans refuse to give any details, a new scrum half is expected at Clifton Lane later today and will start training shortly when the squad reports back on Monday after a week’s rest.

Bester has been speaking to agents and to an English Premiership club, but so far, other than the new number nine, his inquiries have not been a success. Within the next few days, Rotherham are confident they will be able to announce that their new players have been signed. The Titans are keen to recruit a new back row forward, a utility back and a centre.

Rotherham, fifth in the Championship, have a small first team squad and with the play-offs taking place in March and beyond, it essential that Bester has more players.

One forward close to making a return is Neale Patrick who has not appeared in the Championship since the third week of September when he was hurt against Bedford.
