KNIGHTS boss Clive Griffiths wants to see signs of improvement in today’s British & Irish Cup clash with Nottingham at Castle Park (2.30pm).
Griffiths welcomes back last season’s leading try scorer Michael Keating from a long term injury at full back, while also handing starts to his two newest signings, Will Hafu and ex-Rotherham Titans player Joe Bedford.
The Welshman is targeting this afternoon’s Pool Eight fixture for a morale boosting win following an error-strewn performance against runaway Championship leaders Newcastle Falcons on New Year’s Day.
Griffiths said: “This is a massive game for us.
“We need to bounce back, get a performance and grow some confidence.
“Nottingham away in the league was the first game I saw after coming back and I want to see some improvement from then.
“I’ll be looking for good signs that what we’ve been working on since then has started to take effect.”
Knights are currently second in Pool Eight and well placed to qualify for the knockout stage, but Griffiths is prioritising Championship safety.
“I’d like to work on a few things before we play London Scottish [on Jan 25],” he said.
“Sometimes you’ve got to go backwards to go forwards but it’s time we were going forwards.”
