Kiwi star Williams to test Titans

Rotherham confront one of the game's greatest players in recent rugby history in tonight's televised Championship game at Nottingham. Ali Williams, capped 61 times in the second row by New Zealand, plays his last game for the Green and Whites before returning home.

Williams, an outstanding operator in the line-out and one of the hardest men competing at the highest level, still hopes to play in the World Cup being held in New Zealand later this year.

In his short spell with Nottingham, Williams has played a major role in the club's recent run of five consecutive wins in the Championship, a victorious sequence which has taken Nottingham to fifth in the league.

Seventh-placed Rotherham's confidence has soared following successive wins against Cornish Pirates and London Welsh but the Titans will have their work cut out in defence as they will need to contain some of the best forwards in the division.

Not only is Williams a huge threat, but the back row, too, of Craig Hammond, Luke Sherriff and Sione Kalamafoni is highly dangerous.

The first game between the two sides, both competing for a place in the top eight so they can take part in the promotion play-offs, was a bad tempered and controversial affair.

Rotherham won 37-31 in September but at a price...prop Rob O'Donnell smashed his ankle and hasn't played since, and backs Richard Welding and Jonny Hepworth were also hurt.

The Titans then reported Nottingham's Tongan international, Kalamafoni, for foul play which resulted in a lengthy ban.

Ahead of the showdown, which is to be screened on Sky Sports at 7.45pm, Nottingham are on 40 points having won nine of their 16 Championship games whereas Rotherham have 36 points following their record of eight wins from 16.
