After matching their hosts for long periods, Sheffield Medicals went down 71-36 at Yorkshire Two leaders Bradford Salem after a hard-fought match on Saturday.

The score line flattered Bradford as the teams were drawing 26-26 with half an hour gone.

Mike Davies was the stand out performer, scoring 24 points. His haul included two tries, converting them both.

Stocksbridge beat higher-placed Old Otliensians 28-5 in Yorkshire Three match after a strong performance.

The hosts were 21-5 ahead at half time and didn’t look back. Hooker Rhys Keenan touched down after just seven minutes, stand-off Scott Bowskill adding the conversion. Two minutes later the visitors also scored a try, but it was unconverted – and it was to be their only score.

Keenan’s second try came on 15 minutes, Bowskill again adding the extras, and centre Dave Brown put his name on the scoresheet five minutes before the break. Bowskill’s conversion made it 21-5 at half time.

A penalty try was awarded for repeat infringement by Old Otliensians on the hour mark, and Bowskill’s conversion completed a good win for Stocksbridge.

Rotherham Clifton won 33-5 against Garforth in Yorkshire Five.
