WHEATLEY Hills stormed to a convincing 45-7 win in the North East over the weekend.
The game against Durham City had been even enough for the first half hour before centre Ryan Guest went over for the opener and helped to open the floodgates.
Gaz Burns added the second try and Johnny Woodcock his second conversion before Woodcock himself went over before half time to give them a commanding 19-0 lead.
Woodcock scored again and converted at the start of the second half before Guest got his second of the game.
The home side got a consolation try and conversion but tries from Ryan Richardson and another from Burns sealed an emphatic win.
Doncaster Phoenix were also victorious on the road, beating West Park Leeds 27-24.
Player-coach Ryan Peacey’s double set the standard for the rest of the team to follow and Craig Deakin followed the lead with a double of his own.
Flanker Ade Sheehan also scored.
Wheatley Hills Seconds were also dominant in their 43-14 win over Old Brodleians.
Prop Isaac Mayes’ opening try was added to by second row Jay Wynne and flanker Tom Griffith’s efforts.
