Clive Griffiths has cast his net globally on the hunt for back up players after the Doncaster Knights injury crisis grew even worse on Saturday.
Injuries for Dougie Flockhart and Brad Field during the impressive win over Esher lengthened the crocked list to 14 names.
And Griffiths says he will have to look abroad for reinforcements with the domestic pool now dry.
“I’ll be looking got players all over the world,” the director of rugby told the Star.
“It feels like I’ve been on the phone constantly since the start of the season.
“My Saturday nights consist of eating a Madras and then getting on the phone to directors of rugby
“It’s increasingly apparent there’s not many players ready and available in this country.
“It’s frustrating that we can’t keep this momentum going and keep as close to our best XV on the paddock.
“We’ve got the loan players who could be called back at any time so then all of a sudden we’d be down ever more.
“It’s heartbreaking at times but we keep bouncing back.
“We just hit wall after wall but keep coming back.”
Two tries from Adam Kettle and another from skipper Matt Challinor helped the Knights to an 19-11 win over Esher, taking them back to the top of the table at the expense of their Surrey rivals.
