Doncaster Knights’ new-look squad are champing at the bit ahead of the new Championship season, according to Paul Jarvis.
The full back returned to training with his teammates at Castle Park last week after the squad were granted a week’s leave by boss Clive Griffiths.
Knights’ first friendly is at Hull RUFC on August 15 - and Jarvis says it can’t come quickly enough.
“I honestly think we could go now, we’re looking good,” he told the club’s official website.
“The squad is looking really strong, there is definitely competition for places but I think that actually helps the atmosphere in training.
“It’s a competitive environment but we‘re all getting on whilst pushing each other to be better.
“We’ve turned up our organization now and we’re really going to hammer out what it is we need to do to make sure we are really sharp for the pre-season games.
“We’ve taken a bit of a back step from the running and weight specific work, everything is much more focused now but the intensity has gone up. I guess now we’ve conditioned the body and are looking to focus the mind.”
He added: “The week off was lovely. It was nice to go back home and chill out for a week.
“As soon as we got back it was pretty full on but all the boys were straight into their stride. Everything is looking pretty slick now.
“The time off certainly hasn’t effected our sharpness.”
