DONCASTER Knights crashed to one of their biggest home defeats in their history when going down 65-3 against Bristol in their first Championship promotion Play-off Pool A at Castle Park last night.
The visitor ran in nine tries without reply to underline their status as promotion favourites.
“It is the worst night of my coaching career,” said Knights boss Brett Davey.
“They were very good and did all the things that we normally do well, but we were never at the races.
“It is disappointing that we have saved our worst performance of the season for the Play-offs when you want to be at your best.
“Injuries didn’t help - we lost another four players during the game including Tom Davies who has gone to hospital with rib problem, but that is no excuse.
“We have five games left and we have got to try and pick ourselves up for the game at Nottingham next Sunday.”
