Tom Cruse, the Rotherham hooker with the Hollywood name, has won several Oscars in his first season at the Titans since he joined from Macclesfield via Sale Sharks last summer.
But the 25 year old from Stockport now faces his biggest starring role against Bristol in the second leg of the play-offs on Saturday at Abbeydale where Rotherham must win to reach the final against either Leeds or London Welsh.
He said: “We must get our discipline right in the scrums, so we don’t give away free kicks and penalties. I am sure we can get parity in the scrum because I feel the Bristol pack are not the best in the Championship.
“ So our attitude has to be spot- on because there are no second chances. They will want to dominate the first 20-30 minutes and therefore our defence has to be at its best.
“We must also sort out our attack because that is such a strong part of our game which I don’t think functioned as well as it could in the first match. I love it at Rotherham and the team spirit here is the best I’ve known and that is why I have recently signed a two year deal.
“ As we enjoy playing together as a team, we are motivated to get through to the final so we’ll have another two games as a squad together before players leave and others go on holiday.”
Cruse’s speed and ball carrying have turned him into one of Rotherham’s most dangerous forwards which is why coach Lee Blackett is so relieved his hooker has successfully overcome ankle and shoulder injuries.
