HEAD coach Alex Codling is calling on Rotherham Titans fans to come out in their droves for this afternoon’s home engagement with third-placed Nottingham.
Titans are currently eight points adrift of fourth spot with a game in hand as they look to record a league double over Nottingham. The Clifton Lane outfit arguably produced one of their best performances of the season when beating Nottingham 27-16 at Meadow Lane back in September.
The overall head to head league record between the sides sees Rotherham edging matters 11-7, with one draw while Nottingham’s sole triumph in South Yorkshire came five years ago.
He said: “We are excited to be back at Clifton Lane and we want as many supporters as possible to come down and cheer the boys on. The Nottingham game is a crucial one for us and the support we get at home makes a huge difference so we are hoping for a good crowd.”
Codling has made three changes from the side who lost 22-16 away to Bedford Blues on Boxing Day. Jimmy Williams returns at scrum-half in the only alteration to the backline. In the pack, Ted Stagg gets the nod at hooker over Dan Baines and Alex Rieder comes back into the fold at number 8, shifting Toby Freeman into the second row for the injured Dan Sanderson.
“The boys have had a few days off over the holiday period to recharge their batteries and they’ve had a well deserved rest,” added Codling. “They have trained very well this week and are raring to go following two positive results away from home.”
