Broadley treble boosts Tigers

Sheffield Tigers may well have made their place in National Two North safe when they pulled off a 31-21 win on their first visit to Preston Grasshoppers.
Tigers were dominant in the backs, running in three of their five tries from inside their own half despite the heavy pitch.
They scored their first 19 points without reply, going ahead with an early try by prop Anthony Ross and then two in succession by winger James Broadley. Jonny West converted two out of three.
Grasshoppers pulled back the first of their three converted tries before half time, and closed to 19-14 with another.
But Broadley put Tigers back in the driving seat when he completed his hat-trick, and the visitors sealed their win when winger Pete Swatkins raced over in the 80th minute.
Sheffield ran out 38-3 home winners over North One East rivals Morpeth to maintain their push for promotion.
Fly-half Donal Collins kicked three early penalties for Sheffield, and also converted a try on 33 minutes from hooker Carl Mortimer which helped Sheffield to a 16-3 lead.
Centre Joe Cribley added a second try which Collins converted to make it 23-3, and centre Simon Tillyer’s 54th minute score made it 28-3.
Collins put his own name on the scoresheet on 70 minutes, and finally skipper Andy Kelly touched down on 75 minutes.
Dinnington remain stuck at the bottom of Yorkshire One after a 37-8 defeat at York.
Barnsley maintained their margin at the top of Yorkshire Two when they ran in five tries for a bonus point in their 35-3 home victory over Ripon.
Sheffield Medicals, previously eight points adrift of leaders Roundhegians in Yorkshire Three, halved their deficit when they scored a four-try bonus in their 31-7 home win over Thornensians.
There were tries for Alex Fawdrey 2, Joseph Gaynor and Rob Causer. James McLeod converted Fawdrey’s first try and also landed a penalty goal.
Mosborough cruised to a 27-0 win over Old Otliensians in Yorkshire Four.
Winger Ricky Davidson touched down twice in the opening 14 minutes to put Mosborough 10-0 ahead, and then his brother Michael added a third try which Dale Adey converted for a 17-0 lead.
Stand-off Paul Farmer added a fourth try and secured a bonus point for Mosborough, while Adey added the conversion and a second half penalty to cap the win.
In Yorkshire Five, Rotherham Clifton claimed a 19-12 victory over Wensleydale. But there was no such luck for Stocksbridge who went down 10-15 at home against Marist.
