Wilson tips Rovers for survival

DONCASTER Rovers star Mark Wilson is confident that the club will still be playing Championship football this time next season.

Rovers are languishing just above the relegation zone, but Wilson argues that the club were in a much more serious situation this time last season.

Said Wilson:"We had a get-together before Christmas and there wasn't one of us who wanted to be bottom of the league, which we were at the time, and that is the attitude to take.

"There is massive belief in the dressing room that because of the way that we apply ourselves, that whatever the situation we find ourselves in, we can get out of it.

"We've got a good group of players and a good squad and the attitude among the players is fantastic.

"As everyone knows, we went on a great run in the second half of the season and we climbed out of the relegation zone and into mid-table.

"The reason that we were able to do that was because we took it one game at a time and as we started to win games it turned into a run.

"We are doing exactly the same again so hopefully we can go on another good run.

"We certainly need to start turning draws into wins at home and it would be nice to think that we could start doing that in today's game against Queens Park Rangers.

"They are a talented team with a lot of good players, but I don't think that they are as well organised as Blackpool, who we played in our last home game, which is something that we can hopefully exploit.

"We've got players such as John Oster and James Coppinger and Billy Sharp, who is on fire at the moment, who can get at back-fours and do well for us.

"We were struggling to score goals this time last year but we've got goals in the side now. We just need to be a bit tighter at the back and that is something that we work on every day in training."
