Simon wins with Wright good finish
DONCASTER Athletic Club's Simon Wright produced a storming finish to win the inaugural Cusworth 10k road race on Sunday.
Wright finished six seconds clear of Rotherham's Luke Field in a time of 34 minutes 15 seconds.
The two men battled it out between themselves in the second half of the race after dropping John Guveya (Doncaster).
"Luke tried to get away but I thought that if I could keep with him as long as I could then if felt that I'd got a kick finish, I'd give it a good go," Wright told The Star.
"I went past him a few hundred metres from the finish - not knowing whether he had a kick finish of his own - but I held him off."
Guveya was third in 35.15 and team-mate Jacob Clark (35.48) was fourth.
Doncaster's Andy Siddle (37.18) was seventh, Daniel Orme (Doncaster) was ninth in 38.00 and Askern's Dean Winter (38.01) was tenth.
