Winger Rob Worrincy believes it is vital that Sheffield Eagles take advantage of the momentum garnered from last Friday’s performance against Bradford.

The Eagles travel to Blackpool for the Summer Bash weekend knowing that they face a tough task if they are to topple Andrew Henderson’s London Broncos.

Despite defeat against Bradford last week, the Eagles produced a high quality display in a game in which they led for long periods.

Worrincy says Eagles must not fall into old habits which have seen them fail to back up any good performances in an inconsistent campaign.

He told The Star: “It is really important that we don’t lose the momentum from the Bradford display. In the past we have performed really well one week and then in the next week we have been a bit flat. It is vital that we try and take things forward.

“We need to carry over the momentum and the passion that we showed against Bradford into the Summer Bash game because London are a really top team who are performing well at the moment.”

Saturday is a repeat fixture of last season’s Summer Bash showdown when the then high-flying Eagles were taken apart by a Broncos outfit who had been ailing for much of the season.

The tables have now turned, with London fighting it out at the top end of the Kingstone Press Championship while Mark Aston’s side are now languishing in seventh position.

Worrincy is keen to avenge last season’s defeat, which he described as ‘embarrassing’, as the Sky cameras once again descend on Bloomfield Road for the second year of the Summer Bash showcase.

“A lot of the boys who are here now weren’t involved last year, but for me it was an embarrassing point of last season at Blackpool,” the former Halifax ace added.

“It was a bitter pill to swallow, so this year we need to turn up and put in a much better performance. The cameras are there and I know some of the boys really enjoy playing in front of them.”
