Sheffield Eagles are hoping to have Misi Taulapapa back for the derby with Doncaster tomorrow.

The Samoan international proved to be a big miss for Mark Aston’s Eagles as they succumbed to heavy defeat at Bradford Bulls last weekend, where injuries decimated any hope of a second half revival in the 46-12 loss.

Taulapapa limped out of Eagles home game with Halifax with a groin problem, but Eagles chief Aston believes he will be available for Friday’s clash as Eagles look to complete the double over the Championship’s basement side.

“Misi wanted to play against Bradford, but we decided the players in possession of the shirt should be given the opportunity” Aston told The Star.

“When we come round to Friday we know that we have individuals who will be fresh and that is important to us, and then we will have to re-assess everyone else.”

Aston also expects to have second-rower Duane Straugheir back after a lenthy hamstring problem, whilst Kyle Briggs is available after he was dropped. “We are busted but have the likes of Duane Straugheir and Kyle Briggs available, they didn’t make it against Bradford, but they are fresh to come in and we have some of the kids ready if people aren’t where they need to be.”

Pat Walker faces a fitness test after he was forced off with a toe injury in the defeat at Odsal Stadium, whilst Dominic Brambani is expected to be included after a head injury which meant he wasn’t allowed back on the pitch last weekend.

“Dom passed all the required tests except a balance test,” Aston said. “I am not saying concussion isn’t serious, you have to be careful, but Dom clearly had his marbles back. Patch has broken his toe; he might be able to play with that if he can have an injection.”

He added: “It will have to be checked out and then we’ll have to re-assess it again.”

The Eagles will have the home dressing room at The Keepmoat Stadium, (7.30pm.)
